I bought two of the shell lamps for our living room/kitchen, they are both beautiful and were the best choice for the room. However, it was a lot of work to get both lamps hanging. The suspension, as planned in the instructions, made a very, very unstable impression, as the entire weight of the lamp would hang on two small screws and the lamp would be attached to nylon cord. This would mean that the lamp would either hang about 50 cm further down than the lamp is high, which certainly looks nice with a ceiling height of 3 m, but is absolutely not possible in a new building with normal height ceilings, or that the lamp would not hang at all because the first breeze would have caused everything to collapse. We solved the problem by hanging the lamps directly from their frames on two large hooks, which is not only super stable, but also ensures that the lamp hangs directly below the ceiling. We also cut off the bottom row of shell plates, simply because we thought it looked nicer. Four of the rows of shells had fallen off during transportation, which was annoying as replacement shell plates were supplied but no nylon thread, so we had to go to the DIY store first and then repair the lamp. So it wasn`t as uncomplicated as I had hoped, BUT the lamps are stunningly beautiful and when the windows are open they rattle very nicely in the wind (except in very strong winds, which can be a bit scary, but you don`t normally have the windows open then anyway). Conclusion: It was a lot of work, but now that they are hanging, I am very, very glad that we did this work, they are perfect for our kitchen-living room and I didn`t want to have any other lamps.
